今回はNPRのポッドキャスト「Life Kit」から。「某歌姫や某ロックスター みたいに歌えたらいいな～　でも私音痴でセンスないし。。。」って思ったことありませんか? 歌声は他の楽器と違って期待ような音程が出てこないもの。がっかりしないで、そんなに気を張らなくても学習と練習で誰でも上達できるTipsを紹介するエピソードです。

 [話声から歌声に拡張できる練習法]

 1. スマホアプリ(like Pocket Pitch or SingTrue)で音階を出してハミングしてみる(ド～、レ～、ミ～)。ピアノでもOK

 2. speaking phrase(会話のフレーズ *注: ミュージカルスタイル)で伸ばしてみよう

 3. どのくらいの音程(高低)が出るか練習してみよう。高い音程から下げてってみよう

自分の声の快適なところが見つかったら

  1. 自身の楽器(歌声)のチューニングはこまめに: tune your instrument often

  2. 呼吸を思い出して: remember to breathe

  3. 練習、練習、練習は向上の助けに: Practice, practice, practice will help you improve

  4. 自信を持とう(築こう): build your confidence too

をやってみよう。モチベーションによってヴォーカルのコーチをつけたり、合唱団に入ったりするのも手。一人で練習するプレシャーを避けれる。練習を続けるのに録音したのを聞き返して成長具合を確認することも大切。歌の練習することは自身を受け入れるだけでなく、(バンドでも合唱団でも友たちとのカラオケでも)コミュニティを築てくことでもある。

その1.  I’m stepping out of my comfort zone(快適な空間から抜け出そうとしています) 

 DRAIN: …I’m Aja Drain, a news assistant at It’s Been A Minute, and I’m stepping out of my comfort zone so we can learn how to sing. Because if (singing) I can do this, (speaking) you can too.

何かを促す時に使えそうなフレーズですね！

自作例文

例: We spend daily task without any issue. But new technologies and social problem is coming, so let’s step out of our comfort zone to find new possibility out.

伝えたいこと: 「問題なく日々の業務をこなしているけど、新しい技術や社会問題はやってきています。あたらしい可能性を見つけるために居心地のいい空間から抜け出しましょう！！」

随分、大げさな文章になってしまいましたが、step out of somewhere で活用できそうです。

その2. right away(すぐに), for some reason(なんらかの理由で)

ROBINSON-MARTIN: I don’t know why, but it’s like singing is the only instrument that people don’t allow themselves to not be as good at right away. You know, if you’re starting a violin, you’re going to expect certain interesting notes to come out. But for some reason, we’re not forgiving of ourselves when it’s time to start singing. So the first step is mental. It’s to say, I can do this.

• but it’s like singing is the only instrument that people don’t allow themselves to not be as good at right away(歌うことはすぐにうまくないといけない(と思われえている)唯一の楽器).
• But for some reason, we’re not forgiving of ourselves when it’s time to start singing(何らかの理由で私たちは何らかの理由で自身に寛容でない).

例: This product is broken for some reason. Anyhow we will send new one at right away.

伝えたいこと: 「この製品は何らかの理由で壊れました。何であれ新しいのをすぐに送ります」

その3. That is why…(それが…している理由です)

DRAIN: That’s why we’re here (laughter).

例: That’s why we have to fix this issue.

伝えたいこと: 「それが私たちがこの問題を解決しないといけない理由です」

理由というと大げさですがwhyの後に続く文章をしてるかの説明になりますよね。話の流れで「これなんだよ！！」というタイミングで使えそうです。

その4. Let’s recap(おさらいしよう！).

DRAIN: I started this episode with a pretty negative mindset – I’m not a singer. But I am – maybe not a professional, but I know how to express myself through sound and music, and there’s so much beauty and value in that. Let’s recap.

会議の終わりに wrap up (締めくくる。まとめる)と同じ感じで recap も使えそうですね。recapの方は要点をまとめる的な感じですね。授業とか何かを学んでいるシーンで使えそうです。
